5 ways to improve your website design

What’s up everyone! It’s your boy Greg here to share 5 ways to improve your website design. Let me be real with you – the internet is SUPER competitive these days. If your site doesn’t look crispy fresh and on-trend, you’re seriously missing out on clicks and conversions.

To help y’all step up your website game, I’ve pulled together my top 5 tips for improving your design. Follow these easy steps and your visitors will be obsessed, I promise. Okay, let’s get into it!

Way #1 – Choose a minimalist, clean aesthetic design

The first thing anyone notices when landing on a site is the visual style. Gone are the days when you could get away with busy templates full of distracting elements. Today’s users want clean, breathable spaces that feel luxurious.

A minimalist aesthetic lets the content shine without clutter. Use plenty of white space, wide gutters between sections, and focus on one main font at a readable size. Limit your color palette to no more than 3-4 tones that complement each other nicely.

This creates a polished, professional look that says “I care about your user experience.” No one wants to scroll through a messy, crowded site – keep things tranquil and focused. Some top minimalist templates I love are Aire, Meghna, and Victoria. Get creative with spacing and balance to achieve that luxury hotel vibe.

Way #2 – Optimize for mobile from the start

If I can stress anything, optimizing for mobile devices from the start of any design process will go a long way in how people view your website. With nearly 60% of all web traffic coming form mobile devices, this is a huge factor and will certainly assist with your SEO.

It’s critical your design is fully optimized for small screens. Gone are the days when you can design desktop-first and call it a day. Your site needs to work seamlessly across devices.

Make sure your template is fully responsive and refreshes beautifully at different breakpoints. Use fluid grids, relative units like Rem and percentages instead of pixels.

Test early and often across iPhone, Android and tablet sizes to catch layout issues. Accessibility is also key – keep typography large and spaced, with ample contrast and alt text on images

My number one mobile pet peeve? Sites that don’t work on my phone but say “Check back on desktop!” Uhh that’s a no from me bro.

Your visitors are mobile these days, so make sure they can achieve their goals from anywhere. Speed matters too – keep file sizes tight and load times lightning fast for a seamless experience.

Way #3 – Prioritize call-to-actions

Now that you’ve got visitors landing on your crispy clean site, how do you get them to take action? Good CTAs are clutch for engaging users and moving them along the sales funnel. Place prominent calls above the fold asking people to “Learn More” or “Get Started.”

Draw attention with contrasting colors, borders and size differences from the body copy. My top two favorite CTA styles are outlined buttons in a vibrant accent hue and prominent text links in all caps.

Use clear, compelling verb-based copy like “DOWNLOAD NOW” or “ADD TO CART.” Include plenty throughout the funnel to keep visitors engaged.

Test different variations to see what performs best for your specific audience. Analytics can tell you if people are clicking and converting or just skimming by. Get granular with your goals too – have specific CTAs at key points like opt-in forms, lead gen content, checkout pages and more. An entertaining design is nice, but the name of the game is driving results baby.

Way #4 – Personalize the experience

Visitors these days expect a customized, personal experience on every site they visit. When they land, they should feel instantly understood based on past behaviors like browsing history or what content they’ve engaged with before.

Leverage remarketing tools to greet returning users with a relevant prompt like “Continue reading this article” or “Checkout items in your cart.”

First-time visitors should see top offers catered to them as soon as they land too. Get creative with dynamic content blocks like most popular articles, best selling products or location-based tips.

Collect relevant identifiable data gently through forms and track user behavior with analytics. Over time you’ll build rich profile data to personalize deeper.

Consider account creation too – signed in users expect a tailored dashboard of “For You” notifications and progress tracking. Keep gathering permission-based data to ups the personalization game over visits.

Way #5 – Maintain a consistent brand presence

Cohesion and consistency make or break the user experience across all digital touchpoints. When visiting your site, users should feel the unified qualities of your brand loud and clear through visual and tonal elements.

This includes repeating logos, color palettes, photography styles, and core messaging across all areas like social media, emails, apps and more. Your brand’s “voice” or unique tone of humor, expertise or values should also flow consistently.

Overlap core branding elements with standard header, footer templates to tie the experiences together.

Even subtle touches like consistent spacing, typography sizes and interaction styles foster familiarity that builds trust. Consistency takes work but pays off big time in recognition and loyalty over time.

Your branding may evolve, but keep core identifiers consistent for familiarity that moves the needle.
